Prayer
After ending the prayer, we are often in a rush to join the rat race of life, and get back to work, and the endless list of chores. But in our hurry we miss out on a great deal of blessings and opportunities that take no more than a few moments.
Muharramat
Praying in jama’a or congregation is a blessing from the blessings of Allah, and a meritorious action. Those who attend the congregational prayers are rewarded up to twenty-seven times more than one offering the Salah alone. It strengthens the brotherhood and brings happiness to the one who engages in it.
The mosques will be filled during Ramadaan, bi’ithnillah. Sadly, many who will attend the mosque are not regular goers, and what’s worse, many are unaware of the etiquettes of praying in the mosque. Wonky lines, preceding the imam, praying away from the jama’ah, and chit chatting are all too common sights…such that it is almost embarrassing!
“Scratch, scratch, scratch,” he itched his head for the third time. ‘Ahhhhh’ he yawned, as he opened his mouth wide. Tick-tock, and he bent to fix his socks. This man had ants in his pants, or perhaps it was the shaytaan playing with him and causing him to fidget so.
Muharramat, Salah
Khushu’ or humility in the prayer, is of utmost importance and integral to the validity of one’s prayer. We rush through the prayer eager to get it over and done, as though it is a heavy burden weighing down on our backs.
Attending the mosque and meeting your fellow brothers and sisters is a joyous occasion, and it only becomes more enjoyable when we follow the Sunnah to the T. Truly, our deen is complete in every sense, not a jot is left out, such that even the manner in which we line up for prayer is not neglected. In that lining up there is harmony, unity, love, and care for each other, if it is done in accordance with the Sunnah.
