“And race toward forgiveness from your Lord…” (Surah Hadid 57:21)
Allah has blessed us with the opportunity of living to experience another month of Ramadaan. It is said that the salaf-as-saalih would spend 6 months of the year asking Allah to allow them to live until the next Ramadaan, then they would spend the next half of the year hoping Allah would accept their duaa. Why would they exert such efforts?
Ramadaan has already passed. After the thirty days, I have one question in my mind; what have I gained? I keep wondering, reflecting and thinking within myself; how have I benefitted?
Thirty days of Ramadaan has passed, leaving me with lingering thoughts. Questions after questions bombarded my thinking space: Have I done enough? Will my deeds be accepted? What have I gained? Did I change? How have I benefitted?
… and the last question will be, “Will I be able to see next Ramadaan?”
Oh it’s amazing how fast time flies by and it is already Sha’ban. Ramadaan is just around the corner, and let us reminisce our past Ramadaan. How did we do last Ramadaan? Did we do ‘good’? Was there any changes in our act of worships? How did we do during the past year?
Two months before Ramadaan, I was asked, what was my Ramadaan plan? I couldn’t answer. I didn’t have anything planned for me. I am not really good with planners. I’ve tried doing a Ramadan planner twice, and I failed miserably both times.
I have always found the tafseer of the Quraan to be absorbing at least. This surah is no exception. I have chosen to share the tafseer of Imam As-Sadi’ because it is eloquent, and concise. In addition it is also comprehensive, yet easy to understand and grasp.
